Jeane July – Voice Actress
As an actress, vocalist, dancer, teacher and choreographer, Jeane July has worked on National, Broadway and International stages as an entertainer.
Although Jeane has had experience as a singer and actress on stage and screen, she discovered a love for voice acting. It led her to being the spokesperson for L.A. Care Health Plan and recording various spots for the Los Angeles Zoo, Heifer International Podcast. She is the voice along with her husband, Jesse Stern, on the podcast website called “The Meditation Podcast.com”. Jeane was also the MC/Host for the annual Brazilian Summer Beauty Pageant in Los Angeles.
Jeane attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas. While studying music, she also began studying dance. While enrolled at the University of Houston, she majored in Radio and Television Communication, with a minor in music and drama. She continued her training in Ballet, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. She began auditioning during her years in school which led her to her first professional show in Houston Grand Opera’s production of Scott Joplin’s “Treemonisha”. Soon after that, she was in the national touring company of “Showboat”.
Jeane worked with various bands out of Houston. Her talent led her to New York, Philadelphia, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and Europe as a singer. She became a member of the singing group “The Three Degrees”. After moving to Los Angeles, Jeane began working as a background singer for such artists as Liza Minnelli, Billy Preston, Evelyn Champagne King, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. and Brenda Russell. She even did her first CD recording of original songs she wrote called “My Siren Song”.
Because of her love for dance, Jeane began studying again, focusing on dances from Brazil, West Africa and Cuba. It has led her to teach at various studios in the Los Angeles area. She accepted an opportunity to teach at The Royal London Academy’s Summer Dance Program at Cal State Long Beach. Her “Brazilian Samba Workout” was featured on the HD Live Well Network “Mirror/Mirror”, and recently on the webisode “The Posh Pescatarian”.
Jeane’s particular passion for the Brazilian culture has opened opportunities for her in Los Angeles. She has performed on stage at the Ford Theatre with famed Brazilian artists like Diogo Nogueira and Olodum. Also, she and her group “Samba Samba” had the privilege of performing at the 2012 Playboy Jazz Festival with renowned artist Sheila E. She was the 2010 and 2011 “Princesa of the Bateria (Drums)” for SambaLA Samba School of Long Beach. She was also the founder and choreographer for the groups “Diaspora” and “Samba Samba”.
With all of the things that Jeane has done in entertainment, she is most passionate about using her voice as an instrument.
